Industry Trend Analysis - Two Countries At Risk From An Autos Trade Shake-Up - APR 2017


BMI View: In line with our view that free trade uncertainty will be a key theme for the industry globally in 2017, we have identified countries that have carved out a niche as global export bases and as such, might be at risk in the event of a major shake-up of global trade.

Much of the speculation surrounding free trade in the Autos sector at the moment is focussed on NAFTA and Brexit, with the future of manufacturing in Mexico and the UK at the forefront. However, in line with our view that free trade uncertainty will be a key theme for the industry globally in 2017 ( see ' Key Themes For Autos ' , November 29 2016), we have identified other countries that have carved out a niche as global export bases and as such, might be at risk in the event of a major shake-up of global trade.
