Industry Trend Analysis - Cambodia, Philippines And Vietnam To Lead ASEAN Car Sales - APR 2017


BMI View : Car sales in Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam will outperform the rest of the ASEAN region in 2017 as a mix of solid economic growth, strong private consumption and tax reform translates into double - digit growth in the passenger car segment.

We expect Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam to be the best performing autos markets in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region in 2017 with forecast growth of 20.4%, 19.2% and 18.0% in passenger car sales respectively. Elsewhere across the ASEAN region, we expect to see the beginnings of a recovery in the Malaysian and Thai car market in 2017, while the Singaporean and Bruneian markets will decline.
