Japan's Toyota is making one of the biggest commitments to a change in product strategy seen in the US automotive market yet. As sales of pick-up trucks and SUVs continue to fall on the back of rising fuel prices, the Japanese manufacturer has chosen to change the remit of its new plant still under construction in Tupelo, Mississippi, to now produce the Prius hybrid rather than the Highlander SUV as originally planned.
