Italian carmaker Fiat has announced plans to begin production of its Siena sedan in Iran later this year, over three years later than originally planned. Fiat signed the initial agreement with Iran's Pars Industrial Development Foundation (PIDF) back in 2005 with production due to commence in H205, but no progress was made until a further announcement in August 2007, which claimed that production would begin in October of the same year. The project was delayed further until this latest attempt to end Fiat's 50-year absence from Iran.
