Following the news that GM and Ford are planning to reduce their production in North America, Chrysler has shown that it is also suffering from excess inventories. The company has announced that it will reduce output at its two St Louis plants, affecting 2,400 workers from September. Chief Operating Officer Tom LaSorda added that the closure of its St Louis South minivan plant could be indefinite as Chrysler sees 'no need for the capacity in the future'.
