Ford and General Motors are solving the dual issues of surplus inventories in the US and extra demand in emerging markets by raising exports of their North American built vehicles to China. Both carmakers have signed deals worth a combined US$1.8bn, which will involve shipping vehicles and components to existing joint venture partners in China, where sales growth remains in double-digits.
