Japan's Daihatsu has announced its departure from Vietnamese joint venture Vietindo Daihatsu Automotive Corp on the back of poor sales in the country. In May 2007, the joint venture, in which Daihatsu holds a 26% stake, did not register any sales, following the sale of just one unit in April. Sales for the whole of 2006 amounted to just 530 Jumbo trucks and Terios SUVs.
