The first ever privately owned vehicle production plant will open in Jordan next year, following an agreement between local firm Ayass Motors and China's Hebei Zhongxing Automobile. With a starting capital of US$30mn, the plant will have an initial production capacity of between 4,000 and 6,250 pick-ups, 2x4 and 4x4 vehicles. The partners aim to raise output to 12,000 units and ultimately to 24,000 units, with capital also increasing incrementally to US$50mn by the end of the project's fifth year, and eventually to US$230mn.
