In accordance with its World Trade Organisation (WTO) commitments, Vietnam will open up its automotive market to high-cylinder motorcycles (over 175cc) from May 31. At present, the import and distribution of high-cylinder motorcycles is prohibited unless a special permit is granted. There will be no limit on the quantity of 175cc and above bikes entering Vietnam from the end of May, however.
