Taking advantage of the export-oriented nature of Turkey's automotive market, Ford and Toyota are both raising their production capacity to satisfy growing exports. Toyota Turkey, which exports around 96% of output, has announced that production of its Verso model will begin exclusively at its plant in Adapazari in 2009. The plant became operational earlier in March with production of the Auris and capacity at the facility is already due to be expanded from 160,000 units per year to 175,000 units.
