EU accession is set to have a major impact on the Bulgarian car market, according to BMI's latest Bulgaria Automotive Report. According to the Union of Importers of Automobiles in Bulgaria (SVAB), automotive sales rose 29.7% y-o-y in 2006. Car sales rose 29.2% to 42,625 units, while truck and bus sales rose 39.3% to 2,675 units, bringing the total to 45,300 units. This exceeded BMI's forecast of 15.8% in the Q406 report, which was based on trends observed in the first three quarters of the year.
