Mexico's automotive industry continues to post positive results. Figures from the Mexican Automobile Industry Association AMIA show that domestic sales totalled 90,036 units in August, 0.5% up on the same month a year before, and the highest amount ever reported by the car industry for the month of August. Accumulated sales for the period January - August totalled 707,559 units, representing a 0.6% increase on the same period in 2005. While the figures have led AMIA to proclaim itself confident that some 1.2mn vehicles will be sold in the country this year, BMI is confident that domestic sales can continue
