The United Arab Emirates (UAE), the second largest car market in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) after Saudi Arabia, is set to grow 11.4% y-o-y in 2006 to 128,700 units, according to BMI's latest UAE Automotives Report. Meanwhile, the UAE is positioning itself as a retail hub. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are jostling with Bahrain to capture the re-export market, with Dubai's strong foundations in retail and shipping forming the basis for its long-term position as the regional car marketing hub. Re-exports are set to rise 12.5% annually - to 103,270 by 2010 - as the UAE establishes itself as
