Given that 2004 was a special case, with Olympic-related sales boosting the market, the performance in 2005 is still 4.8% higher than 2003. This leads BMI to believe that growth, however minimal, is still attainable for the remainder of the forecast period. In the first four months of 2006, passenger car sales were 4.4% lower than the first third of 2005, with sales of 99,579 units. However, as BMI had already been very cautious in forecasting growth of just 2% for 2006, our forecast is still achievable. We do not expect growth to exceed 2% as used imports gain momentum.
