In 2004 Renault reported a 43% rise in net income to EUR3.5bn due to profitability gains in Europe and on international markets. The group's net income is equivalent to a return on equity of 28.4%. Revenues rose 8.4% to EUR40.7bn, due to success in its product range and sustained growth outside West Europe. In 2004 worldwide sales rose 3.6% to 2,471,654 units. Renault's share of the West European market was 10.8%. In the rest of the world, the group saw a 16.5% rise in sales to nearly 700,000 units.
