Founded in 1898, Renault is one of Europe's oldest car manufacturing firms and in 2006 is Europe's fifth most popular manufacturer in terms of sales. In the first four months of 2006, Renault had a 9% share of the EU and EFTA market, although sales were down 10.2% year-on-year. However, in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Renault is the second most popular brand with a 19% market share, five percentage points behind the market leader
