Autos Trade To Hot Up

September 2010 | Industry Forecast

Egypt has revealed it has ambitious plans for its auto exports. In February, Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif said that the government wants to double the value of its exports over the next four years from EGP92bn to EGP200bn, according to a report in Daily News Egypt. However, BMI believes the country may face difficulty reaching that target given the downturn in consumer demand from key markets like Europe. Auto exports in particular are likely to continue to struggle to post gains. We foresee auto exports ticking higher just 2.5% to 5,197 units this year.
