Italian carmaker Fiat, one of the top 10 carmakers globally in terms of revenue, returned to profitability in 2010, posting a full-year net profit of EUR600mn, compared with the EUR848 net loss in 2009. Much of this rebound was owing to its strong performance in Brazil and a better-than-expected recovery in the European commercial vehicles market. However, BMI is concerned whether the carmaker will be able to sustain these levels.
