US Reliance To Aid In Production Recovery, But Credit Crunch Will Hurt Demand Growth

Auto production in Mexico enjoyed a better-than-expected recovery in 2010, surging 50% on 2009, mainly on the back of 52% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in export demand in the year, the Mexican Auto Industry Association (AMIA) estimates. As well as benefiting from 11% y-o-y growth in demand from the US - its biggest export market - Mexico also gained from its increasing exposure to other export markets in Latin America, Canada and Europe.
