World's Biggest Car Market Faces Tougher Year

China retained its position as the world's largest car market after record new vehicle sales in 2010. Passenger vehicle sales surged in December, reaching 1.3mn units, as buyers raced to avoid new restrictions on the number of cars registered in Beijing from January 1 2011.
