Volvo Taps Into Chinese Premiumisation Opportunities

Swedish carmaker Volvo will reveal a strategic plan in March 2011, which will lay out its future activities under new Chinese owner Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Details shared by CEO Stefan Jacoby and Volvo Car China Chairman Freeman Shen suggest that a major feature of the plan will be the role of China, both as a production base and a major sales market. This echoes BMI's view that there will growing premiumisation in emerging markets (EMs) such as China.
