As South Africa's vehicle production returns to normal after an eight-day strike, it could be short-lived as workers in the tyre and component sectors threaten to follow suit. With carmakers losing hundreds of vehicles per day in output as a result of the most recent strikes, and production levels playing a pivotal role in securing investment incentives under the new Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP), BMI sees a potential risk to attracting investment.
