Windsor Lay-Offs Will Leave GM And Ford Determined To Claw Back Market Share
July 2010 | Company News AlertAlmost 900 jobs will be lost in Windsor, Ontario with the closure of General Motors Company (GM)'s transmission plant and elimination of a shift at Ford Motor's engine factory. The GM closure has been on the cards since 2008 when it was announced there would be no new products made at the facility. The plant, which employed around 500 people, produced transmissions for the Pontiac G5, but this brand has been phased out in order for GM to focus on its four core brands.
