Hybrid Tax Will Hit Both Industry And Treasury
July 2010 | Industry NewsThe Jordanian government's decision to impose a tax on imported hybrid cars is already beginning to manifest itself in reduced customs revenues, which are expected to fall one-third as fewer cars are imported. Data from the Jordan Customs Department (JCD) show that although the number of cars imported rose from 33,872 units in H109 to 39,277 units in H110, customs receipts for the period fell from JOD147.7mn to JOD131.7mn.
