Race To Become GCC Autos Hub Hots Up

Just a week after Saudi Arabia unveiled its first domestically-designed car with a view to beginning large-scale production, Abu Dhabi has announced plans to develop an automotive industry zone, pitting two of the region's most prominent markets against each other to become a hub for the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states. While BMI highlighted the size of Saudi Arabia's passenger car market as a point in its favour, we also believe Abu Dhabi has an advantage through its outside investment in the industry.
