VW Investment Signals Increased Confidence In Local Production

German carmaker Volkswagen (VW) has announced further investment in South Africa, which BMI believes will signal a trend in new projects following the finalisation of incentives under the new Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP). However, unlike other carmakers that have been waiting for the details of APDP incentives, VW's new injections mark the latest in a string of investments worth ZAR5bn over the last four years, of which ZAR4bn was invested over the last two years.
