EV Take-Up Prompts Mitsubishi Expansion

Japan's Mitsubishi Motors (MMC) plans to triple output of its MiEV electric car by FY12 on the back of better-than-expected demand, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun daily. MMC's original production plans had been based on sales of 1,400 units in FY09, following its launch in July, and 5,000 units in FY10. However, sales for FY09 actually reached 2,000 units, with sales for the current financial year projected to reach 9,000
