Government Support Brings Carmakers Little Comfort

Despite receiving a EUR6bn aid package from the government, French carmakers PSA Peugeot Citroën and Renault have failed to escape unscathed from the global crisis. PSA reported its biggest ever full-year loss in 2009, at EUR1.16bn (in net terms), while its rival posted losses to the tune of EUR3bn during the year.
