US Imports Set To Rise After 'Cash For Clunkers' Change

Japan has altered its 'cash for clunkers' plan to allow imported US vehicles to qualify. The move follows pressure from the US Congress and US Trade Representative, Ron Kirk, who accused Japan of discriminating against US vehicles on the grounds they needed to undergo a special inspection procedure to qualify for the cash incentives available under the programme.
