Czech Carmakers Find Growth Overseas

New car sales of the big three Czech carmakers - Škoda Auto, Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile (TPCA) and Hyundai Nosovice - reached a record 1.125mn units in 2009, up by an impressive 11.3% year-on-year (y-o-y), local newspaper Hospodářské noviny (HN) has reported. With the auto sector in the Czech Republic being primarily export oriented, much of the growth in sales for these carmakers came from an increase in demand from export markets such as Germany or overseas markets where they have a presence.
