Fiat Commits To Production Increase

Italian carmaker Fiat has announced plans to increase domestic car production by as much as 50%, to nearly 1mn units a year by 2012. This compares with the close to 600,000 units expected to be produced by end of 2009. However, Fiat's CEO, Sergio Marchionne, believes such an increase is only possible with the help of a range of government incentives, such as tax breaks on car sales and reduced labour costs.
