Mixed Results As Hyundai And Toyota Trade Home Markets

South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor has announced that it will be withdrawing its passenger cars from the Japanese market after eight years due to poor sales. In the 10 months to October, Hyundai sold 786 units. While this was more than double the 377 units sold in the same period of 2008, according to the Japan Automobile Importers Association, it accounted for less than 1% of the market. Although Hyundai will be pulling out to focus on 'more promising markets such as the United States and China', the company will continue to provide support to existing Japanese
