Car Sales Down, But Recovery Beginning
October 2009 | Industry Trend AnalysisCar sales in Peru for 2009 are down compared with 2008, but a moderate recovery was noted later in the year. According to the Association of Automobile Representatives of Peru (Araper), sales of new vehicles fell by 20.96% from January to August 2009, over the same period in 2008. Only 49,087 units were sold in the time period, down from 62,109 in 2008, but Araper noted a rallying in sales in the latter months compared to earlier in the year, suggesting that the market may have bottomed.
