Samsung Seeks Growth In Vehicle Battery Business

The South Korean government's measures to promote the development and use of 'green' vehicles has prompted not only vehicle manufacturers to invest in new projects, but also suppliers. SB LiMotive, a joint venture (JV) between Samsung SDI and Germany's Bosch for the production of lithium-ion car batteries, has announced plans to invest around KRW500bn (US$407mn) in its Ulsan-based plant, which is now under construction and due to open in 2011.
