Fiat Keeps Component Sourcing Local

Italian carmaker Fiat has announced plans to source components to the value of US$1bn from India by 2010. In addition to supplying its joint venture (JV) with Tata Motors, the parts will also be exported to other Fiat manufacturing operations around the world. According to Fiat Group Purchasing (FGP) CEO Gianni Coda, the Indian components will contribute 5% of the company's global component requirements.
