Import Duty On New Cars Likely To Be Raised
August 2009 | Industry BriefNews: According to Russian business daily Kommersant, the Russian government is considering extending a 30% import duty on new foreign cars instead of letting it lapse on September 1 2009. The move is attributed to protecting domestic auto producers who have been hit hard by the recession. The governmental commission for protective measures in foreign trade will decide about extending duties in a meeting to be held by the end of August 2009.
