Multiple Vehicle Tax May Hit Car Sales
August 2009 | Industry NewsA new tax bill approved by Indonesia's parliament will see drivers taxed for owning more than one vehicle, which could have a significant effect on the country's new vehicle sales. Aimed at cutting down congestion and generating more income for local governments to be used on transport infrastructure projects, the bill calls for a tax of between 2% and 10% for a driver's second and subsequent vehicles, calculated according to the vehicle's sales value and the level of congestion in that region.
