GM Consolidates As 75% Of Capacity Lies Idle

General Motors South Africa (GMSA) is preparing to move local production to one plant, as its capacity utilisation plummets. GMSA produced 51,000 units in 2008 and expects to produce 26,000 this year as a result of the economic slowdown, which has severely impacted South Africa's vehicle sales. Its total installed annual production capacity is 89,000
