Government Steps In To Boost Domestic Demand

Mexico's President Felipe Calderón will launch a nationwide scrappage scheme to bolster domestic vehicle demand, local news source El Universal has reported. Vehicle sales fell 31% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 300,316 units in 5M09, prompting BMI to forecast a 15% y-o-y contraction in overall demand by year-end.
