Indonesian Parts Makers Seek Protection

The Indonesian Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers Association (GIAMM) has approached the government for protection, as falling vehicle sales begin to impact upon the supply segment. GIAMM is looking for new regulations on imported automotive parts that would increase demand for domestic brands and has cited the example of the electronics industry, which has seen a rise in domestic market share after the introduction of import limitations.
