African Sales Record For General Motors

US carmaker General Motors posted record sales in Africa in 2008, despite a tough operating climate in South Africa. Sales for General Motors African Operations surpassed 200,000 units for the first time in the company's history, rising by 18% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 212,362 units. According to GM African Operations president Stevan Koch, the performance has helped the division to triple its sales over the last five years.
