Toyota Opens Philippines Parts Plant But No Further Plans

Japanese carmaker Toyota has opened a PHP5.8bn plant in the Philippines for the production of transmission units. The new Toyota Autoparts Philippines (TAP) line will supply R-type transmissions to the company's international innovative multi-purpose vehicle (IMV) project for vehicles with larger engines, such as the Fortuner SUV, Hilux-Vigo truck and Innova minivan. TAP already produces G-type transmissions for smaller engines. Toyota expects the new line to take combined production of the G-type and R-type transmissions to 300,000 units per
