Toyota Opens Second Plant Amid Record Canadian Sales

December 2008 | Company News Alert

Japan's Toyota has officially opened its second production facility in Canada, almost 20 years since it first began producing in the country. In November alone, Toyota sold over 1,600 RAV-4s, up 37% year-on-year (y-o-y). However, the capacity of the facility, which employs 1,200 people, has been reduced from the initial plan of 150,000 units per year, to 75,000 units due to the slump in the North American market.
