Workers Accept Hyundai Deal
September 2008 | Company News AlertSouth Korean carmaker Hyundai has finally reached a new labour agreement with its union, some four months after negotiations began. Hyundai's members of the Korean Metal Workers' Union voted 54.49% in favour of the deal, which was the second to have been put forward during the talks. An initial deal was proposed on September 2, but with backing from a record low 37.39% of unionised staff, the agreement was abandoned until the current deal was put forward on September 25.
