Ford South Africa Axes Staff

Ford is the latest carmaker to announce cutbacks in South Africa, with plans to cut around 800 jobs from its local workforce. The US carmaker has confirmed that voluntary redundancy and retirement packages have been on offer to workers since the end of August. However, Ford pointed out that the cutbacks are not down to falling sales, but rather the result of 'current business requirements and the state of the South African economy.'
