Australian Autos Review Recommends Tariff Cut

The Australian government will consider its future action regarding the automotive industry, after an independent review recommended that import tariffs on vehicles should be halved. The review body, led by former Victoria premier Steve Bracks, suggested that the tariff cut from 10% to 5% by 2010 would be beneficial to Australia in its free trade agreement (FTA) talks with the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
