Toyota Takes Global Lead But Lowers Target
July 2008 | Company News AlertJapan's Toyota has overtaken General Motors as the world's leading car producer in terms of sales in H108, after being narrowly held back by the US giant in 2007. Toyota's sales of 4.82mn units for the first six months of the year were some 277,532 units higher than its rival, after losing out by just 40,000 units in the whole of 2007. The growth was largely led by Toyota's performance in emerging markets such as China and the Middle East, although faltering sales on the home front and in North America have led the world's new number one to lower
