GM Looks To Volt To Spark Recovery

US carmaker General Motors (GM) is looking to accelerate development work on its Chevrolet Volt electric car to detract from its poor sales performance for the year so far, according to the New York Times. Although a GM spokesman for the project has officially stated that designers and engineers are 'getting very close' to a final production version, sources quoted in the US daily have indicated that GM's 100th anniversary celebrations in September would provide the likely launch
