Tax Could Prohibit India's Hybrid Growth
June 2008 | Product LaunchJapan's Honda has become the first carmaker to offer a hybrid model in India, rolling out the Civic Hybrid. According to Honda, the 1.3-litre petrol engine, supported by an electric motor, is 47% more fuel-efficient than the 1.8-litre traditional Civic. Honda Siel Car India (HSCI) president Masahiro Takedagawa announced at the launch that the Civic is part of Honda's global strategy of both providing 'eco friendly vehicles' and strengthening its presence in India.
