EU To Decide On Mandatory ESP And Tyre Safety Standards
May 2008 | Industry NewsSafety standards are to be toughened in the European Union with the European Commission deciding on the proposal to make electronic stability (known as ESC or ESP) technology mandatory in all new vehicles sold in Europe. The Commission is also deciding on noise and energy efficiency standards for tyres. The new legislation is aimed at simplifying existing safety regulations by replacing around 50 existing directives and 100 amendments with one single regulation.
